
The following information is designed to help you
understand our identification requirements under the Money
Laundering regulations and ensure a smoother,
quicker application.
Branch applications (face to face) - one document
from each list per applicant.
Postal applications (non face to face) - two documents from each list per applicant.
If you send us original documents by recorded or registered mail then we will return them to you by the same method on the day they are received at our offices.
A certified copy of the original will be accepted if you are unable to supply the original document.
The certified copies must be clearly legible and include the relevant pages of the documents.
The copies must show the printed name, address and profession of a U.K. lawyer, banker, authorised financial intermediary, FSA regulated mortgage broker, accountant, teacher, doctor, minister of religion or postmaster/sub-postmaster together with the date and their signature against the wording, "original seen".
If two applicants reside at the same address, one
document bearing both names is acceptable to
establish proof of residency for both parties,
e.g. a joint bank statement.
Identification will not be required if you are currently
either a saver or borrower with Harpenden Building
Society and opened your account during the last
five years.
