The Hertfordshares/Bedfordshares account offers an attractive rate of interest with the added advantage of ensuring that your savings are readily accessible.

This account can be opened with any amount between £1,000 and £100,000.

You can invest a lump sum and add to it whenever you wish, either by cheque or cash. If you plan to save regularly why not set up a standing order? Just ask for details.

Cheques that you pay in take seven working days to clear although you will earn interest from the day after receipt.

Cheques should be made payable to the account holder or "Harpenden Building Society re account holder's name or account number".

The minimum investment level must be maintained for the account to remain open.

A passbook will give you a record of the transaction that you have carried out. Please present it every time you pay into your account of make a withdrawal.

You can have immediate access to your savings without any notice or loss of interest providing that at least £10,000 remains in your account following a withdrawal.

Alternatively, you can give 30 days' notice of a withdrawal without any loss of interest. If you are not able to give this notice you can still withdraw your money, but will lose 30 days' interest on the amount withdrawn.

Up to £250 in cash per day may be withdrawn from your local Branch or Agency office. The maximum amount that can be withdrawn by cheque is £10,000 each day. To maintain the account, a minimum balance of £1,000 is required. If you would like a cheque for a larger amount, please let your usual Branch know in advance as special arrangements may need to be made.
