Unless you are an existing account holder with the Society you will need to provide two items of identification from each of the following lists to send with your completed application form if you are opening your new account by post.

If you send us original documents by recorded or registered mail then we will return them to you by the same method on the day they are received at our offices.

A certified copy of the original will be accepted if you are unable to supply the original document.

The certified copies must be clearly legible and include the relevant pages of the documents.

The copies must show the printed name, address and profession of a U.K. lawyer, banker, authorised financial intermediary, FSA regulated mortgage broker, accountant, teacher, doctor, minister of religion or postmaster/sub-postmaster together with the date and their signature against the wording, "original seen".

If you intend to visit one of our Branches or Agency Offices, then we will only require one item of identification from each of the following lists.

TO VERIFY NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH

• Current full passport
• Current U.K. photo-card driving licence, with counterpart slip
• Known employer's identity card with a photograph
• Armed forces identity card
• Young persons new type National Insurance card
• National Union of Students' membership card (with photograph)
• Residence permit issued by the Home Office
• NHS card

TO CERTIFY ADDRESS

• Utility bill - under 3 months old (mobile phone bills are not accepted)
• Local Authority Council Tax Bill for the current year
• Bank or credit card statement - under 3 months old
• Inland Revenue Notice of Tax Code
• Bank, building society passbook or National Savings book containing current address
• Current U.K. photo-card driving licence, with counterpart slip (if not used for above)

UNDER 18'S

• Birth certificate
• Library card
• Medical card
• National Insurance card with signature
• Travel pass with photograph

Please contact us if you are unable to provide documents from the above list, and we will try to suggest alternative identification that will be acceptable to the Society.
