Here’s a breakdown of what we might need from you at times to aid us with identification….
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
If you fail to keep up with payments on your mortgage a ‘Receiver of Rent’ may be appointed and your rental property, or other property used as security, may be repossessed.
As part of our customer verification process, all new customers are required to provide two forms of identification.
We will also carry out an electronic identification check through a Credit Reference Agency, which compares your details against a number of trusted databases. This is not a credit search and will only record that an identity check has been completed.
If you are an existing customer and we are unable to verify your identity and address through the electronic identification check, we will require documentary proof of identity and address. Details of the acceptable documents are outlined in Section 2.
Where an existing customer’s identity and address cannot be verified through the electronic identification check, documentary evidence will be required. In these circumstances, we will need to see one document from each of the lists below:

If you are unable to provide original documents, either because the account has been opened digitally or by post, certified copies are acceptable. The copy must be signed against the wording ‘certified to be a true copy of the original document’, by one of the following:
- Solicitor
- Accountant
- Bank/Building Society Official
- Independent Financial Advisor
- Post Office
- Doctor
- Dentist
- Police Officer
- Teacher
When children open a savings account, they are also required to provide proof of identity and address.
We are unable to carry out electronic identification for children and therefore one document from each list detailed below must be provided to verify a child’s identity.

There may be instances where you are unable to provide proof of identity and address from list 1 and list 2.
